Why We Started - “I Wish You Knew Me”

It began with a book.
When Marcy Renken wrote a simple story about her son Will’s journey after a traumatic brain injury, everything changed. His teachers understood him better. His progress improved. People began to see him—not just the diagnosis.

That one story inspired a  movement.

A Place Where Real Stories Become Real Advocacy

IWishYouKnewMe.org was created for families, caregivers, and organizations who need more than sympathy—they need support, strategy, and a way to be heard. Through books, trainings, and workshops, we help people share thier stories in ways that build connection and create change.

We believe advocacy begins with empathy and empathy begins with understanding.
